Avantida Releases Distance-Based Pricing Model
New feature to allow dynamic saving and pricing models
ANTWERP - December 11, 2019 - Continuously looking for better ways to serve the intermodal logistics market, Avantida by E2open (Avantida), has launched a new feature in its reUse application – distance-based triangulation of empty containers. This ability enables Avantida platform users to calculate the savings based on saved mileage for all triangulations in Europe, Asia and North America. A dynamic pricing-model offered by participating ocean carriers now allows transporters to also execute short-distance street turns.
Rico van Leuken, general manager of Avantida, sees this as a necessary step of a broader innovation roadmap: “We listened to our customers telling us that this is an addition that would better serve transporter needs. In addition to the win-win benefits this feature delivers to ocean carriers and transporters, it is a key step on our path towards applying predictive analytics across our platform to revolutionize how empty containers are handled.”
The new tool will also allow ocean lines to dynamically work with transporters to make better use of their empty equipment. By pricing reuses differently, it becomes possible to create more opportunities in ports, for example, where short distances are no longer a showstopper to cut empty kilometers and save time. Thanks to the distance-based feature, Avantida further entrenches its place as a leading partner of the entire intermodal community. With more innovations to follow, Avantida by E2open will continue to strengthen its market leading position.
Yannick Lefevre, head of global account management for Avantida, describes the approach: “As of today, the saving calculation logic is available for all transporters in all 22 countries that Avantida operates in. During the next few weeks, our ocean line partners will publish their pricing for short-distance trips; allowing our 7.500 transporters on the network to harvest the pricing benefits.”
